An Introduction to Willow Basketry

Time & Location

21 Oct 2023, 10:00 – 16:00

Kirk Centre- Upper Room, Station Rd, Ellon AB41 9AE, UK

What you will learn

In this day-long workshop you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the ancient craft of willow weaving.

In this workshop we will be learning to make a small berry basket with handle.

I will guide you through the process of selecting your willow, weaving the base and some basic techniques for weaving the sides and folding down a border (you can make the version in the photo or choose to do an asymmetrical border with a driftwood handle)  We will talk about shaping your basket and the different ways you can add a handle.  This will be a small class of around 6 people so there will be plenty of time for questions and one-to-one tuition.

The workshop will take place in Ellon, upstairs in the Kirk Centre (The Upper Room)
