Lúnasa- Festival of the Harvest

Updated: Sep 14, 2021

a farewell to summer and giving thanks of the bounty of the land

Lúnasa marks the half way point between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox. It's a day of celebration. A time of coming home, bringing in the harvest and for giving thanks to our precious home and the bounty of nature.

For me it symbolises a slow retreat back inwards. The buzz of activity of spring and summer are now behind me and it's time to slow down, breathe in that hazy end of summer fragrance and to give thanks for this turn in the sun. I look forward to Autumn, to gathering apples and making apple pie, to falling leaves and conkers. The nights draw in, the candles are lit and new creative seeds are planted and nutured over the darker months.
